Assalamu'alaikum Warahmatullah Hiwabarakatuh! :)

Abu Yahya Suhaib bin Sinan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him". [Muslim].

 

Commentary:  A Muslim is required to behave in poverty and prosperity, affluence and hardship, in the manner stated in this Hadith. It means that to forget Allah in prosperity, rather than being thankful to Him for His Favour is defiance of His Orders. Similarly, it is unbecoming of a Muslim that in troubles and turmoil, rather being patient, he tends to weeping and crying, grousing and grieving against the Will of Allah.

There's this story I heard from www.tubeislam.com,

insyaAllah:

Once upon a time there was this syeikh. This syeikh has a business on the sea and  he is also a teacher. One day when he was in his class teaching, his assistant rush into the classroom and told the syeikh:

Assistant: "Syeikh! Syeikh! there was a big wave, it hit all your ships and all of your ship sinks!"

The syeikh pause for a while then he said ALHAMDULILLAH.

Then he continues with his class.

Then again the assitant rush  into the classroom and say that the news was false. Acutally all of the ships have safely sailed pass the big wave.

The syeikh pause for a while then he said ALHAMDULILLAH.

After the class finished, the students asked the syeikh. 

"Syeikh, why when you heard the bad news or good news you just say ALHAMDULILLAH."

Because the syeikh answered:

"When i heard the bad news i check my heart, if i am displeased with takdir Allah SWT and no i am not displease with takdir Allah SWT. Then i say ALHAMDULILLAH"

"When i heard the good news i check my heart, if i love  Allah SWT  more due to this good incident and no nothing of that happened. Then i say ALHAMDULILLAH"

Meaning good news or bad news, he loves Allah SWT all the time. Consistent level. He doesnt have to wait for something good to happen then he'll love Allah more.

Same for bad news. He is grateful to Allah SWT.


May Allah SWT gives us strength to always be grateful and thankful to Him. Amin. InsyaAllah
